Serbia. The toxic legacy of the Balkan wars.
Decades of industrial pollution have left a toxic legacy in the Republic of Serbia, following the Balkan wars. UN Environment is leading the first ever nationwide clean-up of soil contaminated by industrial pollution in the country with thepractical and financial involvement of the Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea. On 4-6 December, world leaders will have the chance to find solutions to tackle pollution in all its forms at the third Environment Assembly in Nairobi. This is just one example of what can be done.
